What We Are Doing About It

We are reimagining the beverage supply chain. Reuse/refill is the only truly sustainable solution. But the existing centralized packaging supply chain model doesn’t play well with reuse. So we are doing things differently. We are decentralizing the supply chain. We are moving bottling and labeling to the last mile, even to the point of consumption. And making it really easy, cheap and profitable to do so.

If the bottles are reusable and you’re not shipping them back and forth, then you can invest a lot more in them. You can make them a work of art. You can make them hermetically sealed even during use, so the contents last five or ten times longer. As if you never opened the bottle. You can make them smart with sensors and IoT. Imagine your bottle telling you every time someone pours it, and how much was poured, and even how many calories and miligrams of every ingredient you just poured. Or telling you that it is too hot, or that you only have three days until its contents spoil. Or reordering your inventory for you.

But how does the beverage get to the bottle? Not in plastic and not in glass. We developed flexible packaging made of food grade stainless steel. It doesn’t break,it doesn’t leach, has a 95% recycle rate and folds as flat as paper when its empty. And it can be reused dozens of times before recycling.

We are building the foundation of the second-generation supply chain. A truly green supply chain. The Hermet

The Hermet is a hermetically sealed, IoT enabled and tamper-proof smart bottle that provides real-time level, temperature and location data. This data is utilized through Hermet’s Softshell app to provide users with unprecedented benefits. It is well-suited for hotels, restaurants, holiday rentals, airlines and the wine & spirits producers who supply them. Razortank

Razortank is a major breakthrough from Hermet. In addition to terrible land and water pollution caused by plastic films and the problems of recycling them, new testing is showing frightening levels of micro and nanoplastics in our bodies. We developed a way to make flexible packaging from pure food grade stainless steel. While it is only 20-30 microns thin it is extremely strong. Best of all, steel does not retain oders or flavors, so it can be washed, sanitized and reused dozens of times.

Razortank has a perfect synergy with the Hermet smart bottle, but its potential goes far beyond wine & spirits. It can eventually replace most plastic flexible packaging over time. For example, we developed a way to use Razortank for carbonated beverages like beer, sparkling water and soda. Imagine replacing a 15kg empty keg with a 150g Razorkeg that you can carry with two fingers.
